Shannon Siomra developed a love for dance at the tender age of 2. Growing up in the dance studio, Shannon trained in Jazz, Tap, Ballet (R.A.D.), Lyrical, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre. Shannon’s talent led her to become a highly successful competitive dancer, winning awards and scholarships both in Canada and the United States. She furthered her training with C.D.T.A. and D.M.A. attending workshops taught by internationally acclaimed choreographers, which developed her vast knowledge of different teaching methods and choreography styles. During these formative years performing, competing & training, Shannon set her goals and dreams of becoming a dance teacher/choreographer and opening her own studio.
In addition to operating and teaching at her own studio, Shannon has continued her extensive training, expanding her skills in Pilate’s. As a certified Pilates & Acro instructor, Shannon looks forward to helping others develop a higher level of fitness. Her expertise and skill as both a Dance and Pilates Instructor has been recognized, as she trained the 2014 ISU Silver World Medal Synchronized Skating Champions in both Dance and Pilate’s techniques.
Marlene Hawkins has been active in the dance community for over 30 years. Marlene has been an owner, instructor and operator of 3 very successful dance studios in the surrounding areas. She opened up her 1st studio in Oakville during the 1980’s and in the 1990’s she opened up her 2nd studio in Waterdown and in the 2000’s she opened up her 3rd studio in Burlington. Marlene is looking forward to sharing her knowledge as a respected, experienced studio owner and qualified dance instructor in the Milton Community with Dance Etc Milton alongside her daughter Shannon.
Marlene is well known for her excellence in teaching techniques with young children of all ages in Ballet, Jazz and Acro. Marlene has also been active with her other passions, she is also a certified fitness, pilates, and Zumba instructor. Her sense of humour, energy & commitment make her very popular with all of her students. Her first love is dance…after her family… Michael, Cheri, Shannon & Andrew.
Kerry Lee Hawkins
Kerry Lee Hawkins has been involved in the world of dance since the age of three. A trained & accredited dancer in the art of tap, jazz, lyrical, musical theatre, modern & ballet, Kerry Lee started in the world of dance and has never looked back. An accredited member of The British Association of Teachers of Dance, Dance Masters of America – (Canadian Chapter) & Dance Educators of America, Kerry trained under Brian & Faye Foley. Kerry was a successful competitive dancer with numerous awards to her credit travelling across Canada and the United States. Professionally Kerry Lee has performed on television and in trade shows as well as runway modeling, magazine and television ads. Her background also includes singing and dancing in various musicals across Canada. Kerry Lee owned and operated her own dance studio for over 22 years and was proud to be a motivating force behind hundreds of dancers who were successful in exams, competitions and professional work. Many of Kerry Lee’s former students have gone on to open their own dance studios, performed on television, cruise ships & on stage and screen. During her years as a studio owner, Kerry Lee was proud to be President of Dance Masters of America, Chapter 38 and was thrilled to represent Canada at many conventions and workshops in the U.S. Kerry Lee took on another project after taking her students to many dance competitions in Canada and the U.S. In 1990 she started DANCEFEST, a dance competition with an emphasis for the positive. The motto for DANCEFEST is: “Promoting the art of dance through healthy competition”.
Rebecca began dancing at age 4 in Stouffville, ON, where she studied jazz, tap, ballet, musical theatre, and acro. At a young age she began competing and traveled extensively throughout Canada, the United States and Ireland, winning numerous overall and special awards. As a teen Rebecca began to focus on acting as well as dance and she was cast in musicals such as Rent, Bye Bye Birdie, The Wizard of Oz and Oliver. She continued her training in dance, studying with the Alberta Ballet School summer program, New York City Rockettes summer training and Cirque du Soleil teachers program.More recently, Rebecca discovered a great passion for teaching dance in the classroom. It has been her main focus for the past few years. She continues to hone her skills and enhance her personal development by training with reputable dancers and choreographers such as Annie Wood, Stacey Tookey, Kendra Hughes, Gillian Clarke, Sonya Malaya, Kelby Brown and Blake McGrath. Rebecca is a certified Acrobatic Arts Dance Instructor and brings with her over 10 years of dance experience, working with children ages 3 and up teaching both competitive and recreational programs with Dance Etc Milton for the past 6 years.
Danny Fernandes entered the dance world at a very young age. His love for hip hop became evident when he won the “Rising Star” competition in 1999, beating out hundreds of strong competitors. At the age of 12, he was taken on by the Toronto Raptors Dance Team, competing against 2,500 hopefuls, and became the youngest dancer to be signed on by the Raptors dance team at that time. Danny is no stranger to the dance and recording industry growing up with brother Shawn Desman. Danny toured with his brother Shawn, performing as a back up dancer on stage and in live videos. His success as a hip hop dancer also included touring with Aaron Carter, performing in videos and at live concerns. He also had the privilege to perform on stage with other successful recording stars such as Blackstreet and B4-4 as a back up dancer.
In 2008, Danny began lighting up the dance floor with his single “Curious”. He was one of Canada’s most exciting R&B exports and platinum recording artist. The single took on a life of its own, shooting up the radio singles charts. The excitement of the single generated his debut album “Intro’, and was re-released on universal music, catapulting to top spot on the iTunes charts! Danny went on to tour relentlessly, sharing the stages with R&B heavy hitters like Bruno Mars, Flo Rida, Akon, and Sean Kingston. Somewhere during his busy touring schedule he also managed to write and record two successful follow-up albums to ‘Intro’-‘AutomaticLUV’, and ‘Breathe Again’. His hard work paid off, and tied with Canadian rock powerhouse Nickel-back for most nominations at the iHeart Much Music Video awards. In 2016, Danny released a new single ‘Dear Life’ that was certified “gold” in Canada, and written by Grammy nominee Jenson Vaughan, who has worked with Madonna and Britney Spears.

Carly Miller is an accomplished dancer herself, and a well known instructor and choreographer. With over 10 years experience in teaching and a member of The Cecchetti Society of Canada. Carly successfully enters students into Cecchetti Ballet Exams on a yearly basis ranging from Standard and Grade 1 up to Advanced I. In addition to the technique training, she also lends her award winning choreography to studio’s around the GTA. Carly’s students consistently win overall awards at both regional and national competitions, as well they are often recognized for their strong technical skills through special awards. Carly is also proud to mention she has had students accepted in both summer and full time programs at the National Ballet School of Canada.
Prior to taking her passion and knowledge into the studio to work with students, Carly trained at the prestigious Quinte Ballet School of Canada graduating from the Professional Ballet Program followed by the Teacher Training Program. She had the honour to train under the instruction of David & Brian Scott, Mercedes Carret, Joanne Nisbit, Glenn Gilmore and Kate McCabe to name a few. At a young age, Carly was given an apprenticeship opportunity with the Cuban National Ballet dancing under the direction of Alicia Alonso. Carly quickly advanced into corps de ballet, 2nd and 1st soloist roles within the company. Carly has also danced soloist and principal roles for OBC & OBT including pieces from La Bayadere, La Fille Mal Gardee, Don Quixote and Giselle.
Carly continues to educate herself in her field as often as possible and hopes her love for dance will be passed onto her students as her teachers did for her.
Barbara’s first dance class was at the age of 3 in Burlington, Ontario. It was love at first step and she never looked back. With over 25 years of training, she has excelled in various exams including R.A.D. ballet, C.D.T.A. and P.A.E.C. ballet, jazz, and tap. Barbara has also performed competitively in jazz, tap, and modern across Ontario and the United States.
Teaching children was the natural progression for Barbara as she graduated the ECE program with Honours from Sheridan College. During her schooling, she acquired her full teaching certificates for ballet and tap with Performing Arts Educators of Canada (P.A.E.C.). Barbara has been successful at entering students into P.A.E.C. ballet and tap examinations at all levels. Barbara enjoys choreographing competitively with awards for highest overall groups. Her dancers receive many special awards as well, her most favourite being for technique. Her dedication doesn’t stop with children as she also choreographs for the seniors performing troupe “The Burlington Footnotes”. Her extensive dance knowledge and her kind, patient demeanor make her an inspiring teacher to children and adults alike.
Barbara is an active member of Performing Arts Educators of Canada. She has sat on the executive committee and held the tap chair position for six years. She is also an examiner for the ballet division.
When she is not on the dance floor, you can find her as a Nursery school supervisor in Burlington where she continues to follow her passion for educating creative young minds. She promotes every child to come out of their shell and be who they want to be. Children are like rainbows: “Rainbows have nothing to hide” ~ Kermit
Jenna is currently in her fourth year at York University’s BFA Dance Program, and has been training with York’s Dance Energy Dance Team for the past three years as well as University of Western Ontario’s “Heat”. Jenna has been a competitive dancer since the age of 5, training extensively in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acro, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary and Modern. She has completed the RAD Ballet, and the CDTA Ballet, Jazz and Tap exams, and received the ballet award for outstanding style and technical execution during the Vaganova Russian ballet exams. She has won top awards and scholarships at competitions across America and has been seen on TV at both the “Regional’s and National’s” on Family Channel’s “The Next Step” as a well as a featured and back up dancer on “The Next Star”. She was a member of Team Canada that competed in Poland at the World Modern, Jazz and Ballet Dance Championships in 2013 and in Prague for the World Show Dance Championships in 2014. Jenna looks forward to teaching at Dance Etc Milton, and watching the students grow as dancers!
Katie MacLellan began her dance training at the young age of 3, where she discovered her passion for dance. Throughout the years, she has received extensive training in ballet, lyrical, tap, jazz, acro, hip hop and musical theatre, with further training at dance workshops and conventions. Katie competed in competitions across the U.S and Canada winning awards both as a soloist and as a member of the dance teams. More recently, she completed her 3 year dance program at Dance Masters of America, the most highly recognized Dance teachers’ training school in North America. Katie is a certified Acrobatic Arts Dance Instructor, with over 5 years of experience teaching dance to students from the age of two to adults, and has conducted dance workshops at the elementary and high school level. She is very passionate about dance and she brings out that passion in her students. Katie’s focus is to encourage her students to be the best dancers they can be in a safe and fun environment and is looking forward to joining the Dance Etc. team!
Ms Beth’s love of dance has inspired her throughout the years. She spent 16 years in ballet, jazz and hip hop and made an instant connection between music and movement. She attended dance competitions, workshops and exam classes growing up, acquiring different methods of learning & teaching the fundamentals of dance. Ms Beth continued dancing throughout university life, and graduated with a Masters of Education in 2009. She has effectively taken concepts, strategies and tools for teaching in the classroom and applied them in the dance studio. Ms Beth continues to pursue her dance education through professional development by attending teacher workshops, seminars, and participating in adult dance classes. Ms Beth is a Member of C.D.T.A, and has had students successfully complete their dance exams in Ballet and Jazz.
Ms Beth supports each student with her positive and loving attitude, with her goal to increase self-esteem, positive self-imaging, and build confidence in each of her students and looks forward to developing the passion of dance with Dance Etc Milton family!
